Hey Jeff, I went through this before. I talked directly to Jamie one day after I saw the results of a race and what I learned was something that everyone should know............
The results are posted on the wall under the pit stands at the end of the night and we have 30 minutes from the time they are posted to protest any results for that night. The results can not be changed days later because we think we were in a different position then they scored us in. If you were running up front and did something like jump a start or pass under the white line or anything that would constitute a penalty, then this is what happens...
If you pass under the white line (for example) and they see you do this, the scorers will continue to score you in the position you are in until one of 2 things happens,
1- yellow flag= where they will then move you back positions on the track the amount appropriate for the infraction
2- (if there are no more yellows after the infraction) they will take the appropriate amount of positions away from you when the final results are posted.
I know there was a race this year I know was scored wrong also and there were drivers that even said they would talk to cliff and tell him that I was in front of them but it did not matter, they are pretty strict on the 30 minute rule after the race, so, I learned the hard way about how to protest a result. It is ultimately up to Cliff and the scorers the night of the race to determine the outcome if there is a protest.
