Sitting from my sofa reading this bulletin board, I saw help was needed in purchasing a dwarf car.
Disclaimer: If you are purchasing a Dwarf Car to get out of a hunny-do-list, weekend chores, hanging out with the significant other, or to show up the neighbor; I would not spend more then $3500. Why pay more? Just keep it washed to make the neighbor jealous, crash it once in a while so you have to work on the dwarf car instead of chores and also get sympathy from the significant other at the same time.
Rule One
If you are planning to run with CDCRA, I would go with Ebeling Engineering Chassis. If you click on this link, http://www.cdcra.com/LDU701/page.php?id=1 , it shows the creator of the Ebeling Chassis as the vice-president and CDCRA promoter.
Rule Two
If you are planning to run for WDCA (Western States Dwarf Car Association) points, I would get a M&M Chassis. If you click this link, http://www.dwarfworld.com/WSDCA-07.html you will see the president of this association is also the owner of M&M Enterprises http://www.dwarfworld.com/ which builds M&M chassis. Also, you can run with TODCA (The Other Dwarf Car Association) which is M&M south.
Rule Three
You are probably thinking, what about VRA (Ventra Racing Association). I kept the best for last. If you decide to race at VRA, VRA does not care what dwarf car you bring long as it fits in these rules http://www.venturaraceway.com/pdf...9%20VRA%20Dwarf%20Car%20Rules.pdf . As you can see none of the names listed build dwarf cars.
What ever dwarf car is purchased, make sure the dwarf car is safe. What ever Rule you follow, make sure the Rule matches the brand of chassis.
I DON'T MEAN TO BURST YOUR BOBBLE BUT THEY IS A CAR BUILDER IN THE VRA BRIAN SAXTON AND RAY ESTRADA. CURRENTLY THEIR CARS ARE IN 1st AND 3rd IN POINTS FOR THE YEAR.
The point I was trying to make was the persons running the sanctioning bodies are also the same people building the dwarf cars. Hummmm thought it was interesting. But at least under VRA that is not the case .

Sofaking, I really liked the first part of your bulletin. I thought it was funny and appropriate and true!
Then you changed your tone and I wanted to address your comments. These are my opinions (Jan Munroe) and mine alone: not NCDCA, WSDCA or Frank's.
First of all, Frank Munroe (dwarfworld) USED to be president of Nor cal dwarf car which is an association just like cdcra or any other club.Kevin Bender is president of NCDCA and has been for the last 3 years. When you talk about racing with an association, apples to apples would have been cdcra and ncdca and vra and todca etc...
Frank is NOW president of WSDCA, which is a culmination of MANY dwarf car clubs including CDCRA, NCDCA etc.
He is a chassis builder and has been since his first chassis in 1993. We founded WSDCA to UNITE dwarf cars, not divide them. We have several different chassis running in all kinds of clubs (11 associations to be exact). Ebeling, M&M, Downes, HotRod, Peter D. etc. If you read the rule book, you will see how it is almost exact to the original Arizona rules that began all of this. Very little has changed.
We have never made it be about any specific chassis because we want everyone to come and race and besides, we can not possibly build all those cars. We are roofers by trade and this is a Hobby and a 2nd business.
VRA was on the ground floor of WSDCA and is now a track run associaton. We would hope that schedules would allow for VRA drivers to come and run WSDCA races again next year.
I dont know about anyone else, but when you love what you are doing like racing dwarf cars, you become a promoter of the sport. That is what we have done. It is a competitive sport. Of course, we love to brag when M&M's win. Thats awesome. But better than building race cars is buildling a successful association that continues to grow and promotes our sport.
Dont cheapen it by making it about the chassis. Thats just not cool and its not true. I know its not true for M&M and I can pretty much guarantee it isnt for Gary Ebeling either.
Rule #1:
Go get a car and go racing at a local race track that fits your schedule and have fun. Most people are friendly, helpful and love doing this. Most dont care about politics. _________________ Jan Munroe

All 3 associations that were mentioned use the same rule book, thereby negating the point that chassis builders make the rules to suit their cars. _________________ Jan Munroe
hey guys just thought i would add a little to these rules i have raced with all of these clubs and had a great time with all of them so here it goes
RULE 1: cdcra you do have to pay an extra 20 to pick a pill. the tracks they race at are a little hot but are great tracks and they never try to run 10 classes in one night. Even though i have to pay more at least i get all 20 lap in and they tech the cars befor and after the race
RULE 2: wsdc one thing i can say is bring your A game. Those are the fastest guys around and its very good clean hard racing i have loved racing with the wsdc it does seem like they do lean toward the m&m's a little but frank is just a great guy trying to help the cars he knows best so i understand and again they tech the car befor and after the race and makesure your car is perfect cuz they will call you on things even if there just a little off. They also run transpoders so its nice to be able to see all your lap times and its not up to a score keeper to get you in line its a computer so there are no bad calls its black and white
RULE 3: VRA the weather is great the track is alot of fun but they dont tech the cars befor the race. The tech after the race is very minimal if there is any tech at all. I also know of two times that cars had illegal parts and the tech officials just let it go, yet when jeff fillingame had something that wouldnt pass tech they called him on it and DQ'd him. Why didnt they DQ the other drivers? That seems like favoritism to me. You dont have to pay 20 to pick a pill but if you look back many of times are races have been cut short alot this year and its not because we have so many cautions its because they try to run 10 classes every night so not getting all of your laps that you paid for can be frustrating
this is just what i have experienced i know some will disagree. just so every one knows i do not run an m&m or an ebeling so i know what its like to be the odd man out. As far as buying a car just look into it and make your own decision you can go to any track with any car just know its racing and when you become a threat to the front runners there will be some issues.[/u][/b]
When selecting a car safety should be a primary concern make sure you can put a fist between the top of your helmet and the roof. These are open wheel cars and one of the biggest problems are people underestimating them, lots of power and little traction. Also open wheel racing requires a greater level of courtesy as there are no fenders to rub on and An error in judgement can result in the car being 18 feet in the air, end over end.People get hurt. They are a great deal of fun when raced properly and most people are willing to help any way they can.It can also be very frustrating. If you have not raced before and only watched ,get ready for a humbling expereiance.I consider it a very good night when I can roll my car on the trailor without a mark on it, no matter where I finished, you will find others without the same yardstick for a very good night.Goodluck in your journey.
