SINCE NOWONE ELSE SEEMS TO WANT TO REPLY I'LL TRY IT. I BELEIVE THAT THERE WERE 12 DWARFS THERE, EDDIE MORRIS, HIS SON, BOBBY BROWN, DUNLAP, MIKE LEWIS, SCRIBY, ANGEL, BRIAN, RAY ESTRADA, TOM BELLENGER, WALT BOYD, AND I'M SORRY I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE DRIVER OF THE NUMBER 21 CAR. ANGEL WON THE MAIN WITH I THINK BOBBY BROWN 2nd, WALT BOYD 3rd AND RAY 4th. I DON'T KNOW WHO WAS WHERE FROM THERE BACK. THE HOPE MORE CARS AND DRIVERS WILL BE AT THE NEXT TIME THE DWARFS RUN AT PERRIS.

It was a lot of fun Saturday night @ Perris. it would have been more fun with more cars but, the promoters and fans thanked us and said we put on a great show. A few things we (I) learned about going down there might help for the next trip. First off, it is $40 dollars to get in the pits and another 20 dollars for the pill pick/race entry. Was not expecting that. If you have never been to Perris, the pits are in the infield (until it gets full). Local racers to Perris actually rent space in the infield so they are guarenteed a spot every week. The next open spots go to people that pre register for the nights event. Because this was all new to us, most everyone got there early and started lining up out back at the pit gate and i think 9 of the first 11 trucks were the dwarfs and it looked like we would all get to pit together as we went in. As it turns out, we had to sit in another line on the front straight for about 45 minutes in the blazing heat until the locals showed up and got there spots. We were all able to pit in the infield this time but there could be a time that we might have to pit out back outside the track, just saying all this so we might look into a pre entry situation next time to make sure we get some spots.
The track itself was like nothing I had ever raced on and at first, its intimidating at the speeds we are carrying as we reach the end of the straights. The corners do not have a high bank but they are very long and wide turns so the entry is very fast. Practice was the first time I had ever driven on that track and just getting a feel for the size and shape was a job in itself. The first heat race came and i was still unsure of what gear to be running in or what line to drive and I finished 5th. We had 2 heats and then they pulled an 8 for the invert and I started 5th row inside. After a minor spring and air adjustment, I was ready to just go out and have a good time not expecting what was to come.
In a matter of 2 or 3 laps I was all the way up to second place behind angel, and bobby brown was next to me running a completely different line then i was so, in the next 10 laps or so, we passed each other back and forth at least 10 times while still keeping angel in our sights. I was having SO much fun and had no idea we were pulling away from the field. Not sure what lap it was but I saw the flag man put 5 fingers out and in the next couple laps we had the only yellow of the main and it bunched the field back up. I guess I got a little anxious and coming off of turn 4 two laps in a row, I stood on the gas to much to quick and was flying down the front straight sideways and both times I did that I got passed, but was thankful not to collect anyone in the process. Racing with guys from ventura, both pro and senior, and guys from san diego and victorville was almost like a mini national. I finally ended up in 5th and was so excited over the battle with bobby and I could have finished last and still had as much fun.
The entire trip was well worth it and I cant wait to do it again. Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun except saxtons brother (because of a major drive line disaster) and everyone hung out and bench raced after the races were over.
I want to thank Scribs and hi posy for the help as always and my friend Cliff who came out and helped me also. Hopefully more people will go next time and experiance it for them selves.
Oh yeah, I also wanted to say what my highlight of the night was.........Passing Scribs down the back straight and not seeing him the rest of the race made me feel like I really accomplished something.....
Thanx for the great racing to everyone that was there and look forward to seeing everyone next time................ Mike Lewis #5
